| Processing and fulfilling your order (including delivery and after-sales support) | Performance of a contract with you | Order details, contact details, delivery address, payment confirmation |

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered that this use is proportionate, expected, and does not override your own rights and interests. You can ask us for more detail about this balancing assessment at any time.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to make the Website work properly, understand how it is used, and — where you consent — show relevant advertising. This use is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as well as the UK GDPR.
When you first visit the Website, you will be shown a cookie banner where you can accept or reject non-essential cookies, and change your preferences at any time (for example via a “Cookie Settings” link in the footer). The main categories of cookie we use are:
| Category | Purpose | Requires your consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for core functions such as your shopping basket, checkout and account security. These cannot be switched off. | No |
| Performance / analytics | Help us understand how visitors use the Website (e.g. pages visited, time on site) so we can improve it. | Yes |
| Functionality | Remember choices you make (such as language or region) to give a more personalised experience. | Yes |
| Advertising / targeting | Used by us and our advertising partners (which may include social media platforms) to show relevant adverts and measure their performance. | Yes |
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Website works, for example preventing checkout from functioning correctly.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:
- Couriers and delivery partners, to deliver your order (currently including BJS, XDP, Parcel Force and DHL, or the relevant supplier’s own logistics service).
- Our payment processor, PayPal, to process card payments — we do not see or store your full card details ourselves, and PayPal’s own privacy policy applies to its processing of your payment data; and our finance and deferred payment partners, Klarna Financial Services UK Limited and Clearpay Finance Limited, to process finance and instalment applications where you choose those options, whose own privacy statements apply to their processing of your data.
- Fraud-prevention and credit reference agencies, solely to verify identity and prevent fraud, as described in our Terms and Conditions.
- IT, hosting, email and analytics service providers who support our Website and systems, acting on our instructions and under contract.
- Professional advisers (such as auditors, insurers or lawyers) where necessary for our legitimate business purposes.
- Law enforcement, regulators or other third parties where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or that of our customers.
- A buyer or successor organisation, if we sell or reorganise our business, subject to appropriate safeguards for your data.
6. International Transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection, for example through the UK’s “adequacy” regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. As a general guide:
- Order and transaction records are typically kept for 6 years to meet our accounting and tax obligations.
- Account details are kept for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you wish to reactivate it.
- Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop, after which we retain a minimal record to ensure we honour your request.
- Cookie data is kept for the periods set out in your cookie preference settings.
Where we no longer need personal data, we securely delete or anonymise it.
8. Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Access | Ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you. |
| Rectification | Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data. |
| Erasure | Ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances. |
| Restriction | Ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances. |
| Portability | Ask us to provide certain data to you, or transfer it to another organisation, in a portable format. |
| Objection | Object to processing based on legitimate interests, or to direct marketing at any time. |
| Withdraw consent | Where we rely on your consent (e.g. marketing or non-essential cookies), withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. |
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@furnmart.co.uk. We will normally respond within one month. Some rights do not apply in all circumstances — we will explain if this is the case for your request. Exercising these rights is free, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee or decline to act on it.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data. The ICO can be contacted at ico.org.uk, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or by post at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly before you approach the ICO, so please contact us first if you can.
9. Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have opted in to receive them, for example when creating an account or subscribing to our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any marketing email, or by contacting us at support@furnmart.co.uk. Opting out of marketing will not affect service messages relating to an order you have placed.
10. Keeping Your Information Secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration, including secure (HTTPS) connections, access controls, and using reputable, contractually bound service providers for payment processing. While we take security seriously, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
The Website is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and orders may only be placed by individuals aged 18 or over.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how we operate. We will post any updated version on this page with a revised “last updated” date, and, where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
